The midsize Chevy Traverse comes with a single engine option: a 2.5-liter turbocharged I4 that produces 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and your choice between standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive.
The full-size Chevy Tahoe has three engine options:
- Standard 5.3-liter V6 (355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque)
- Available 6.2-liter V8 (420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque)
- Available 3.0-liter Duramax® Turbo Diesel I6 (305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque)
Seating and Cargo Capacity
The Chevy Traverse comes standard with seven seats; you can swap the second-row captain's chairs for a bench seat, increasing the capacity to eight. The Tahoe comes standard with eight seats; you can swap out the second-row bench for captain's chairs, reducing seating to seven while providing more room, or add an available front bench seat, increasing capacity to nine.
When you store items in the Chevy Traverse, you will find 22.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats, 56.6 cubic feet with the rear seats lowered, and 97.6 cubic feet with both rear rows lowered. The Chevy Tahoe has 25.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats, 72.5 cubic feet with the rear seats lowered, and 122.7 cubic feet with both rear rows of seats lowered.
Towing Capability
When properly equipped, the Chevy Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds, while the Chevy Tahoe can tow up to 8,400 pounds.
Technology
The Chevy Traverse and Chevy Tahoe share some similar technology features. Both vehicles come standard with a 17.7-inch front infotainment touchscreen that provides easy-to-reach, easy-to-read, and intuitive controls over vehicle settings, audio, navigation, apps, and more. Both models pair with a touchscreen with a digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and six speakers on the base models. The Traverse offers a 12-speaker Bose® sound system as an available upgrade, while you can equip the Tahoe with a 10-speaker Bose® sound system. The Traverse comes standard with a wireless smartphone charger, while the Tahoe offers a wireless charger as an upgrade.
